The Evil Within
Christine Lewis
Christine Lewis is a seasoned educator, corporate leader, and now debut novelist whose career has spanned both the classroom and the boardroom. Holding a Ph.D. in education, she began by teaching gifted students to think critically and creatively, later publishing instructional manuals to support educators across the country.
Christine then transitioned into professional education, eventually serving as Senior Vice President for a leading publisher in risk management and insurance. There, she led curriculum innovation and authored numerous articles and textbooks for the industry. She also edited several business books, always driven by a passion for clarity, insight, and human growth.
But Christine’s first literary love has always been horror fiction. Influenced by master storytellers like Stephen King and Dean Koontz, she began writing The Presence years ago, only to set it aside while raising a family and building her career. When she recently rediscovered the unfinished manuscript, she knew it was time. Now, with The Presence, she invites readers into a chilling world where memory, loss, and darkness collide.
Christine lives in the United States with her family and believes it’s never too late to chase the stories that call to you.
Introducing 'Some Shadows Never Die'
The Evil Within
Christine Lewis
Christine has a deep interest in the spiritual aspects of life and relationships. Unlike many authors of the horror/thriller genre, Christine has an uplifting message for her readers. Her writing reflects the transformative power of love, and her book weaves together the themes of sacrifice, unity, and hope.
Her characters illustrate how good people have a power that can far exceed any existing evil. Their willingness to sacrifice for each other and their commitment to stand united allows them to face seemingly unfathomable horrors. Each carries the burden of heartache, and each is inextricably connected to their past and to each other.
Importantly, Christine believes that good people have an obligation to sow the seeds of goodness in whatever small and large ways they find possible. She believes that, although people can and do spread evil, such decisions require an energy that drains a person’s humanity, warps the divine spirit enshrined in each of us, and takes a physical toll on the body that temporarily houses the soul. Goodness, on the other hand, energizes and rewards both the giver and receiver. It invigorates the divine spirit within each person, and it promotes the healing of body and soul. It can be joyfully contagious.
Christine further believes that expectation and perception are integral to promoting goodness. You typically get what you expect. If you expect goodness, more people than not will rise to the occasion. Likewise, for you to manifest goodness in yourself, you need to perceive goodness in yourself.
Expectation is the result you anticipate. It is a look to the future. Perception is anchored in the present. It is the lens through which you view life and through which you project outcomes. Perception steers expectations. If you perceive goodness in others, then you will expect goodness from them. To amplify goodness, you should consider viewing your world through a wide-angle lens, one that perceives goodness on a much larger scale. The more goodness you can see, the happier and more fulfilled you will be. Seeing goodness in people is invigorating and fulfilling.
Through her story and her characters, Christine aims to uplift the reader while providing a thrilling tale of heartbreak, healing, and hope.
Although this is Christine’s first novel, she has a solid background in non-fiction publication. She began her career in education, teaching highly gifted and talented students the skills necessary for critical thinking, creativity, communication, independent study, and personal growth. Her work with these students, and later with teachers, led to the publication of two books in this area: GEMINI – Gifted Education Manual for Individualizing Networks of Instruction and PEGASUS – Providing Enrichment for the Gifted: Adapting Selected Units of Study. She holds a Ph.D. in education.
Christine then transitioned into education for professionals, working for the largest publisher of risk management, insurance, and business textbooks. As Chief Academic Officer and Senior Vice President, she headed the company’s Curriculum Department, Examination Department, and Center for Educational Innovation, which was responsible for new product development. She earned numerous industry designations, including CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), RHU (Registered Health Underwriter), and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant), among others. Most recently, she worked as a consultant for professional associations.
Christine is also the editor of two business books: Research Philosophy and Techniques and Strategic Management for Insurers: Volumes I and II. She has authored numerous articles for industry publications, notably How to Gain and Retain Top Leadership Talent and Problem Solving and Creativity. She also published a Strategic Thinking Skills Workbook.
Christine has always enjoyed reading horror/thriller novels, with Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Clive Barker, and Anne Rice among her favorite authors. This passion led her to write this novel, The Presence. Interestingly, she started and completed about 80 percent of her book many years ago. However, due to family, career, and graduate school commitments, she set her novel writing aside for quite some time. Recently, she discovered her nearly completed manuscript in her attic and enthusiastically committed to finishing it.
